What we collect. AVO works without accounts: no name, no email, no signup. When you use the app, we generate a random anonymous identifier for your browser so that your progress (your listening profile, your journey, your streak of listening) can work. We record usage events — which episodes you listen to, the answers you submit (written or spoken), the scores and feedback the system produces, and basic technical information needed to run the service.
Voice notes. If you answer by voice, your recording is processed to be transcribed and evaluated, like a written answer. Recordings are not used to identify you.
What we use it for. Two things. First, to make AVO work for you: the adaptation engine needs your history to choose your next episode. Second, to make AVO better for everyone: we analyze usage data in anonymous and aggregated form — patterns, not people — to improve the training and to support research on how listening comprehension develops in language learners. Any research use is based on anonymized, aggregated data only.
What we don't do. We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't share anything that could identify you.
Third parties. AVO runs on standard infrastructure providers (hosting, database, AI evaluation, speech synthesis). They process data only to provide the service.
Your choices. The beta is anonymous by design. If you clear your browser data, your identifier and local progress are gone. If you have any question or want data associated with your identifier removed, write to us: hello@tryavo.app.
Changes. If AVO introduces accounts or paid plans, this policy will be updated before that happens, and the changes will be clearly announced.
